Sandy Young

President | Principal Planner

Sandy Young is the President and Principal Land Use Planner at Verdis.  Sandy has over 40 years of experience in public outreach. In 2007, after years in the public sector, Sandy and her husband, Gary, launched a landscape architecture/land use planning firm e2 planning & design.  In 2011, they expanded their services to include civil engineering and changed the name to Verdis – Latin for green, to represent Gary’s love of landscape architecture. Gary passed away in 2015 and, as sole owner of the company, Sandy became eligible for and was accepted into the SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program.  Verdis expanded into heavy civil and vertical construction and the company's territory grew.  In just five short years, Verdis' reach has expanded to 14 states west of the Mississippi, including Alaska and Hawaii, and the company has been awarded over 150 federal/state projects. Sandy Young is the President and Principal Land Use Planner at Verdis.  Sandy has over 40 years of experience in public outreach.

In 2020, services expanded even further to include masonry restoration.  Verdis is recognized as a leader in historic renovation projects for clients such as the National Park Services, the GSA and the Army Corps of Engineers.  Verdis is also certified as a Minority/Woman Owned Business in Washington and Idaho.

Sandy is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science.  She currently sits on the Board of the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce, Kootenai Land and Resource Conservation Trust, North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation and Panhandle Parks Foundation.

In her free time, Sandy enjoys horses, biking, skiing, kayaking and running.

Peter Marshall

Vice President of Operations

Peter was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and raised on a rural farm in Cabot, Arkansas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He also obtained graduate degrees with an additional Master’s degree in Biblical Languages from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and later a Doctorate degree in Leadership from Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked with several large church ministries across three states during a 15-year period. At Verdis, Peter oversees company operations in order to ensure that quality experiences are consistently encountered by stakeholders, both internally and externally, while accomplishing organizational goals. When not traveling or interacting on behalf of Verdis, Peter enjoys most action/suspense/sci-fi movies, camping, hiking and road trips with his wife and their adult son and daughter.

Colin Meehan, PE

Vice President of Construction

Colin Meehan was born and raised in Alaska. After graduating from Montana State University in 2002, he began his career there as a consulting engineer working on a wide variety of projects across the state. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys camping and exploring the natural beauty of North Idaho with her husband Wayne and children.

Mike was born in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1998.   Mike has over 20 years of experience in the engineering and surveying field, with an emphasis on site design and management of commercial, industrial, and residential projects.  When he’s not at work, Mike can sometimes be found kayaking, biking, playing the piano, and thinking about doing yardwork.

Dennis graduated from North Idaho College in 1990 with an A.S. Degree in Drafting. Dennis has specialized in the civil engineering field over his 28 year career, with an emphasis on technical support and drafting through the design, plan assembly, and construction process. In his spare time, Dennis enjoys dirt bike riding, camping, spending time outdoors, and time with his family.

Josh was raised in Hawaii and lived there for over 30 years.  He graduated from the University of Hawaii with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering and started his engineering career in 2006 as a structural engineering intern and designer.  In 2010, he went to work for a general contracting company where he managed various commercial and industrial federal design and build construction projects throughout the state of Hawaii.  Recently in 2020, Josh and his family decided to seek out new adventures and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he has joined the Verdis team as a Project Engineer.  He loves being with family and friends (“ohana”) and enjoys playing drums, hunting, snowboarding, mountain biking and working on house projects.

Anthony Bauerle, EIT

Sam Bice grew up all around the world, making stops in the Phillipines, Singapore and Kenya before his family moved backed to the States and settled in Seattle. Sam began his career in California working in the marine construction industry with projects spanning from Southern California up to the Aleutian Chain of Alaska. Leaving behind the marine construction industry, Sam joined the more traditional design/build vertical construction industry when he moved his family to Denver and then Texas. Sam moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2022. He is married with two young children who love anything that takes them out of the house and into a sense of adventure. Sam’s technical background spans marine construction experience including dive work, marine transportation, heavy-lifts, environmental remediation, and marine infrastructure. A graduate of Whitworth University, she brings more than 18 years of experience to her role at Verdis. She has a passion for numbers and people, along with an eye for streamlining processes, and presenting financial data in a way that helps our team make smart and informed business decisions. Noelle has a laser focus on accuracy, compliance with the laws, and generally accepted accounting practices.

Jason, a licensed journeyman plumber with 20 years of construction experience, serves as a project manager and construction superintendent for Verdis. A resident of North Idaho for 30 years, Jason enjoys dirt bike riding, hunting, camping, fishing and spending time with his wife and two sons.

Gordon is a superintendent and foreman at Verdis with over 24 years of experience in the construction industry. He specializes in job-site problem solving, construction methods and sequencing, cost estimation, and heavy equipment operations, training and safety. Owen has nearly 20 years construction experience. He began his career in the trades just out of high school as a painter in Port Angeles, Washington. He made his way up to Alaska where he worked primarily in residential construction in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Kodiak. Owen specializes in framing and finish work and enjoys custom building projects. He and his family moved back to Port Angeles in June 2018.

Nate Conces is a master builder.  Nate started his career in commercial construction at 18, running his own company for 20 years before joining Verdis. He has extensive experience in restoration, designing and building custom homes, restaurants and bars. He enjoys the challenges of each project and has built and studied in 6 different countries. Nate is a well-travelled family man, who enjoys the outdoors. He loves to snowboard, fish, coach sports, and ride motorcycles.

He spent 4 years studying a combination of Architecture Engineering and received an AAS in Construction Management through North Idaho College. Morgan spent several years post-college as a logging equipment operator and a finish carpenter, and worked as a painter during the slow season. He joins Verdis as a carpenter.

Noah Marshall was born in Athens, Tennessee, and raised in Northwest Arkansas. As a Project Coordinator at Verdis, Noah works with our Project Managers to provide support on various Federal Projects. Noah previously worked in technology and is working toward his certification in Project Management.

Wyatt Hawks

Wyatt Hawks was raised in Southern California. Over the years he has had a variety of interesting jobs, from working at a screen-printing shop after high school to working 9 months at Zion National Park to spending a winter cooking at Steamboat Ski Resort. Wyatt’s construction experience includes four summers doing maintenance at Glacier National Park, a winter at Whitefish Ski Resort and working as a roofer in Philadelphia. He enjoys outdoor activities, cookouts, live music, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Doug was raised in North Spokane County,Washington, and still resides in Colbert, Washington.  He was in product sales before joining the building repair industry 15 years ago. His areas of expertise include historic building restoration, concrete and masonry repair, complete exterior building faced maintenance, deck coatings, and above/below grade waterproofing. As a project manager, he is responsible for estimating, field supervision and training, quality control and scheduling. Doug and his family love spending time on the water wakesurfing and enjoying all that the Northwest has to offer.

He has more than 7 years of construction experience, including restoration, demolition, bricklaying, concrete, and waterproofing. Nevan enjoys hiking, exploring the outdoors, and spending time in the water with his beautiful wife and daughter.

Marcus Arana was born and raised on California’s Central Coast and graduated from Fresno State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After a brief stint in sales, Marcus joined the fire service. In his 30-plus year career, he responded to numerous large-scale incidents and major wildland fires. Marcus has experience in paramedicine, training, hazardous materials, fire inspections, fire prevention and operations/suppression. He brings a broad range of knowledge, skills, and abilities from his experience in the fire service to his position as Verdis’ Director of Fire and Life Safety.  In that role, Marcus assists our clients in achieving their safety in the workplace goals. Marcus and his wife, Kari, enjoy the recreational activities North Idaho has to offer and spending time with friends and family.
