Sandy Young

President | Principal Planner

Sandy Young is the President and Principal Land Use Planner at Verdis with over 40 years of public outreach experience. In 2007, she and her late husband, Gary, after years in the public sector, launched e2 planning & design. The company grew quickly and within 3 years expanded to include civil engineering. In 2015, Gary passed away and Sandy obtained her 8(a)/EDWOSB certification with the Small Business Administration. Since then, Verdis has been awarded over 60 projects in both design and construction. Job sites stretch as far east as Saylorville Lake in Des Moines, Iowa, and as far north as Glenallen, Alaska. Verdis is also certified as a  Disadvantaged Business Enterprise in Idaho and Washington. Peter Marshall

Vice President of Operations

When not traveling or interacting on behalf of Verdis, Peter enjoys most action/suspense/sci-fi movies, camping, hiking and road trips with his wife and their adult son and daughter.

Colin Meehan, PE

Vice President of Construction

Colin began his engineering career in 2002 after graduating from Montana State University working in Alaska throughout the state in a wide variety of climates and projects.  He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2011 and has worked throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska since that time.  He enjoys spending time with family and friends and a variety of outdoor activities.

Mike was born in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1998.   Mike has 20 years of experience in the engineering and surveying field, with an emphasis on site design and management of commercial, industrial, and residential projects.  When he’s not at work, Mike can sometimes be found kayaking, biking, playing the piano, and thinking about doing yardwork.

Josh Ropert

Josh was raised in Hawaii and lived there for over 30 years.  He graduated from the University of Hawaii with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering and started his engineering career in 2006 as a structural engineering intern and designer.  In 2010, he went to work for a general contracting company where he managed various commercial and industrial federal design and build construction projects throughout the state of Hawaii.  Recently in 2020, Josh and his family decided to seek out new adventures and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he has joined the Verdis team as a Project Engineer.  He loves being with family and friends (“ohana”) and enjoys playing drums, hunting, snowboarding, mountain biking and working on house projects.

Sean graduated from the University of Idaho in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.  Sean has over 9 years of experience in the construction industry with experience in Land Surveying, Construction Materials Testing, Geotechnical Engineering and Project Management.  He has worked on Federal and private projects throughout the Northwest, including Idaho, Alaska, Washington, Montana and Oregon.  Sean enjoys skiing up at Schweitzer Mountain, mountain biking on Canfield and Silver Mountains, golfing, camping and other outdoor activities.

Gordon Coles

Superintendent

Gordon is a superintendent and foreman at Verdis with over 24 years of experience in the construction industry. He specializes in job-site problem solving, construction methods and sequencing, cost estimation, and heavy equipment operations, training and safety. Gordon is a master of many trades including demolition, rough and fine carpentry, door and ADA compliant hardware installation, window installation, drywall, painting, flooring, excavation and concrete work.  He has extensive experience in new construction, renovations and remodels, and historic preservation and restoration projects. Jim has more than 40 years of experience as the owner of a small construction company located  in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  He has experience in commercial and residential construction including the ability to plan, visualize, and manage multiple crews and subcontractors. He is working for Verdis as a Construction Superintendent on multiple projects in Washington and Idaho. He has been in the construction industry for over 30 years, including 20 years in management.  He has extensive experience with military and commercial construction – both horizontal and vertical.  From the Aleutian Chain to the Arctic Circle to Afghanistan, he is no stranger to difficult and diverse conditions. In his spare time, Paul is an avid fisherman and hunter.  He has worked and recreated all over the world.

Owen has nearly 20 years construction experience. He began his career in the trades just out of high school as a painter in Port Angeles, Washington. He made his way up to Alaska where he worked primarily in residential construction in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Kodiak. Owen specializes in framing and finish work and enjoys custom building projects. He and his family moved back to Port Angeles in June 2018.

Nate Conces is a master builder.  Nate started his career in commercial construction at 18, running his own company for 20 years before joining Verdis. He has extensive experience in restoration, designing and building custom homes, restaurants and bars. He enjoys the challenges of each project and has built and studied in 6 different countries. Nate is a well-travelled family man, who enjoys the outdoors. He loves to snowboard, fish, coach sports, and ride motorcycles.
