Floating Guidewall Cable Replacement

US Army Corps of Engineers

Verdis was prime contractor for replacement of cables and safety chains anchoring the floating guidewall in the forebay of Little Goose Lock and Dam for vessel traffic. Dredging was required to access the anchor cable and safety chain at the north anchor over 100 feet below the water surface. The south anchor was replaced which required two new anchor holes, 6-inches in diameter holes, 3-inch-diameter rods, embedded 15 feet into the dam, and grouted in place. Dredged water and sediment was stored in a detention basin where the sediment could be separated using a flocculant injection process before disposing of water back into the river.
